On August 31, the American Primary Aluminum Association (APAA) released a new video highlighting the resurgence of U.S. primary aluminum production.
The video features a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at Century Aluminum’s Mt. Holly smelter in South Carolina, marking a major milestone in the facility’s return to 100% production capacity. The revitalization represents a significant investment in domestic aluminum production and comes as a direct result of President Trump’s 50% Section 232 tariff program.
The Mt. Holly smelter’s return to full production demonstrates how strong trade policies can help rebuild American manufacturing, create jobs, strengthen domestic supply chains, and bolster U.S. national security.
